**How to connect to your VPS using Putty**

Today we are going to learn how to access our VPS via SSH so we can run commands to install and manage it.

Step 1: First download the latest release of Putty for your platform here: https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html

Step 2: Once downloaded the program, open and it and you should see the terminal for the program. You should select Session in the top left.

Step 3: Open your VPS on Virtualizor and copy the IP address into the hostname box and press open.

You may get a dialog box about an unsecure connection, this is due to your first connection, just press yes.

Step 4: You should now see a console window appear stating login as:. What you enter now depends on what you're trying to connect as, if you are not sure, just enter root.

Step 5: After pressing enter, it will ask you for your password. By default, this is the password you logged in originally with.

You have now successfully connected to your vps using SSH and now can run commands. Below are some useful tips:

To paste into the terminal, you need to right click instead of CTRL + V
