# Project Zomboid | How to Make your Server Private

# Project Zomboid | How to Make your Server Private

#### Private Setting

1. First, you will have to make your server **Private**
   * If you haven't made your server Public, you can skip the step below.

2. Go to your File Manager > .cache > Server > Open **Project.ini**
  * The server's name is Project so your file depends on the name of your server.

3. Find **Public=true** and make it **Public=false** and click Save
   * By turning this to false, it means your server cannot be seen on Steam.

#### Setting up a Password
   * A password will not allow any players to connect on your server without it.

1. Go to your File Manager > .cache > Server > Open **Project.ini**
    * The server's name is Project so your file depends on the name of your server.

2. Locate **Password=** and fill it with the password that you want.

![Example, Skynode#1 is the password](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/96b07f66ef6ab800/image_lx3x5e.png)

3. Click Save and Restart the Server. **Clients must know this password to join the server**.
